We exist to glorify God through being good stewards of the people He has entrusted to us, by helping unbelievers to know Jesus, and helping believers to become like Jesus.

Senior Pastor

Rev. William (Chip) A. Strickland, Jr. was appointed as our Pastor by Bishop King on June 16, 2010.  He & his wife Tris have been serving at Guyton UMC for the past 7 years as Senior Pastor.  Rev. Chip graduated from Coastal Community College in Brunswick, Armstrong College in Savannah & Chandler School of Theology at Emory in Atlanta.  He has previously served as Youth Director at St. Simons UMC, Associate Pastor at Mulberry UMC & Senior Pastor at Guyton UMC.  He is very active in Emmaus & has special training in Church Revitalization.  Chip & Tris (a Para-pro)have 2 children, Lindsay (22) & Trey (14).  Lindsay lives & works in Brunwsick & Trey is in 9th grade & plays in the band at Camden High School.

Director of Education & Children

Sandi Berrie has been on staff since May, 2005.  She brought five years of experience from her previous church where she was Co-Director of the Children's Choir, a pre-school teacher at the church, & created as well as coordinated the Kids ROC (Rely on Christ) Program.  She has a double major in Psychology & Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.  In the short time she's been with us, she's enlivened our church with her fresh ideas, winning smile, sense of humor & a desire to help our children learn to love & grow in Jesus.  She has three beautiful daughters, Kayla, Rachel, & Emma Grace & they live in St. Marys.

Director of Youth

Matt Barlow has been on staff part time since October, 2008 and full time since January, 2009.  He brought three years of experience from his previous church where he led the youth program for three years and led the music program for about a year.  He graduated in December, 2008 with a Bachelor in Music and a Minor in Christian Studies from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA.  In Matt's free time he enjoys playing guitar and drums as well as singing and shooting basketball and throwing football. He is very excited about what God has in store for the youth of Camden County and the surrounding areas.

Director of Music/Older Adults

Rick Russell joined our staff on February 1, 2009.  He comes to us from the Macon, Ga. area where he served in a church for the past six years.  Rick has 2 sons, Geoffrey who lives in Omaha and Jonathan who lives in Macon.  He holds a degree in music & brings with him many years of experience in teaching music and leading music programs.  He has a desire to help others excel in using their God-given musical talents for the Glory of God.
