We exist to glorify God through being good stewards of the people He has entrusted to us, by helping unbelievers to know Jesus, and helping believers to become like Jesus.
Senior Pastor
Rev. William (Chip) A. Strickland, Jr. was appointed as our Pastor by Bishop King on June 16, 2010. He & his wife Tris have been serving at Guyton UMC for the past 7 years as Senior Pastor. Rev. Chip graduated from Coastal Community College in Brunswick, Armstrong College in Savannah & Chandler School of Theology at Emory in Atlanta. He has previously served as Youth Director at St. Simons UMC, Associate Pastor at Mulberry UMC & Senior Pastor at Guyton UMC. He is very active in Emmaus & has special training in Church Revitalization. Chip & Tris (a Para-pro)have 2 children, Lindsay (22) & Trey (14). Lindsay lives & works in Brunwsick & Trey is in 9th grade & plays in the band at Camden High School.
Associate Pastor/Director of Youth
Matt Barlow has been on staff part time since October, 2008 and full time since January, 2009. He brought three years of experience from his previous church where he led the youth program for three years and led the music program for about a year. He graduated in December, 2008 with a Bachelor in Music and a Minor in Christian Studies from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA. In Matt's free time he enjoys playing guitar and drums as well as singing and shooting basketball and throwing football. He is very excited about what God has in store for the youth of Camden County and the surrounding areas. Matt was promoted to Associate Pastor in June, 2011. And married Amanda on October 15, 2011.
Director of Music
Dara Pickren-Davis comes to us with a degree in Music from Florida State University, a certificate of Vocal Performance & A Master of Arts degree in Theatre Production from Central Washington University. Dara grew up singing in church, beginning at the young age of 3. She has served as Music Director at St. Luke UMC in Savannah & at Bethel UMC in Stockbridge. She has been happily married to Howard Davis IV for 8 years. They have 2 beautiful children, Hall (5 yrs old) & Ella (2 yrs. old).
